Listen to Static Dress’ playlist of tracks that influenced Rouge Carpet Disaster (Redux)
Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.
Over the past few years, Static Dress have fast become an inimitable force within the new wave of post-hardcore. Proudly wearing the noughties nostalgia on their sleeve, the Leeds-based outfit provide a hurtling slew of metalcore riffs and screamo vocals that offer raw, emo catharsis with a healthy dose of theatricality.
In 2021, the four-piece – fronted and founded by Olli Appleyard – released their debut EP Prologue which was accompanied by a comic book, highlighting the vivid world-building essence at the core of Static Dress’ output. It also acted as an immersive introduction to the band, something which their debut full-length Rouge Carpet Disaster last year continued with singular fervour.
For their Selections curation, Static Dress have put together a playlist that is structured around the influences that formed in the creation of Rouge Carpet Disaster (Redux) – a reissue of the aforementioned 2022 debut album; with the extended release out this Friday (15 September) via Roadrunner Records, the label home to the likes of Slipknot and Turnstile. Featuring tracks from former Crack Magazine cover stars Ethel Cain and 100 Gecs, metallic hardcore pioneers Converge, Puma Blue, John Carpenter and more, dive in below.
